Grupo VAPF collaborates with Aldeas Infantiles SOS NGO

Grupo VAPF made an economic donation to the Princesa de Asturias Price Awarded Aldeas Infantiles SOS NGO, whose main mission is to help children and young people with economic vulnerability, promoting their development and autonomy through fostering protective family environments and strengthening their family, social and community networks so that they become self-sufficient and well integrated in society as any other child or teenager.

Aldeas Infantiles SOS NGO was founded more than 60 years ago by Hermann Gmeiner in Austria in 1949, and is present in more than 134 countries, attending in 2016 a total of 24,571 children and young people in need.

Currently there are 8 Villages in Spain and 546 Villages around the world, directed by SOS Kinderdorf International.

A Village is composed of 6 to 10 homes that offer a protective family environment to children and young people who for different reasons cannot live with their parents. Five to six children of different ages -mainly sibling groups- live in a family home with a responsible educator, SOS mother, and support educators. They also have the support of a technical team generally formed by Social Worker, Psychologist and Pedagogist.

In addition to the villages, Aldeas Infantiles SOS are committed to develop other social programs such as Day Centers, Youth Counseling Programs, Special Employment Workshops, Training Centers, Reception Centers, Social and Work Placement Programs, Kindergartens and Health Programs among others.
